Hello, and welcome to the February edition of the Worcestershire Business Support Newsletter. February kicks off what is set to be an exciting few weeks for the Growth Hub team as we are supporting and delivering a variety of events, campaigns and support.
To start us off this month, week commencing the 9th of February marks National Apprenticeship Week, championing the value that apprenticeships provide for both individuals and employers. The Growth Hub is proud to be supporting the local campaign in partnership with Worcestershire Apprenticeships. To our employer viewers, there are now and soon to be even more benefits to taking on an apprentice. Get in touch with the Growth Hub to explore this further, and we can link you in to relevant support, including our partners at Worcestershire Apprenticeships helping you find the right training and even candidates for your apprenticeship placement.
Following National Apprenticeship Week. We will then be straight into Worcestershire TechFest, which spans two weeks from the 16th to the 26th of February. Some of you will hopefully already be aware about the updates on Tech Fest, but this is the county’s two week campaign to showcase and promote all things technology and innovation in Worcestershire. Whether you are a business leader, an entrepreneur or someone just interested in the latest technologies, there is something for everyone at Worcestershire TechFest. Interest and demand for the event is high, but there are still spaces available across many of the events, so make sure to follow the link in the newsletter to find out more.
From there, there’s no letting up after TechFest will be heading into March, and a key event that I’d like to highlight for employers is the Worcestershire Skills Expo.
This is the county’s largest careers engagement event, with students from local schools coming along to meet and chat with local training providers and employers about the options available to them in the county. For any parents and carers listening, there was an opportunity to attend the drop in session in the evening with your children. Alongside this, it’s also worth flagging with our employers that there are changes coming to the work experience system, with the aim to better prepare young people for the world of work. For employers, this will mean that we need your help in light of these changes. Our team working with the Careers Worcestershire Early Careers Hub, will be running an event within the Skills Expo to engage employers about the upcoming changes, how these changes can benefit your business and, crucially, how to get involved.
This is a huge event for local employers. We know that talent and skills is a challenge for many organisations. By attending this event, you can get involved and help your organisation to benefit as well as support the local community and our workforce of the future.
