Over the past two years, Winthill Engineering, a custom metalwork specialist based in Suckley, Malvern, has been on an ambitious growth journey. A key part of their strategy has been exploring the power of events and exhibitions to raise brand awareness and showcase their craftsmanship. To help bring this vision to life, Winthill turned to the Worcestershire Growth Hub for expert support and guidance.
Business Impact
With the help of the Growth Hub, Winthill Engineering, secured grant funding for a professional exhibition stand and branded workwear – a major step in enhancing their visibility at key industry events. Exhibiting can be costly, especially when factoring in time away from production, travel, and accommodation. This funding made it possible to achieve a greater return on investment, enabling Winthill to attend higher-profile events and present themselves with confidence and professionalism.
The new exhibition stand has already helped the company connect with new audiences, and they’re now exploring future opportunities including collaborations with the Royal Horticultural Society.
Beyond exhibitions, Winthill is also investing in branded outerwear and PPE, ensuring that their professional image extends to every client interaction, networking event, and on-site project.
Training and Personal Development
As a growing business, Winthill is committed to developing its people alongside its operations. With several new team members joining over the past year and evolving customer demands, they looked to the Worcestershire Growth Hub once again – this time through SkillsBoost, a funding programme designed to help organisations cover the costs of employee training and upskilling.
Using this support, their employees have successfully completed courses in Business Development, SolidWorks 2D and 3D design, and Forklift Operator Training. These programmes have equipped the team with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to take the business to the next level both individually and collectively.
Tom Blakeman Engineering Director said: “Personal development is essential for building a positive and motivated team. The feedback from our employees has been fantastic — we’re learning from each other, improving processes, and delivering even higher-quality 2D and 3D designs for our customers.”
“The Worcestershire Growth Hub has been instrumental in shaping and accelerating our growth strategy. Their expert advice, tailored support, and access to funding and resources have helped us identify new opportunities and build a skilled, confident workforce ready for long-term sustainable success.”
Jamie Clyne, Account Manager for Malvern Hills and Wyre Forest at the Worcestershire Growth Hub, added: “I’m delighted to see how much Winthill has benefitted from our support. Their drive and commitment to growth are inspiring, and we’re proud to play a role in helping them deliver on their ambitious plans. I look forward to working with Tom and the team as they continue to build on this success.”
