As the heat wave rolls in, so does a wave of exciting opportunities for Worcestershire businesses. Hello and welcome to a rather scorching July edition of the Worcestershire Growth Hub newsletter.
The second wave of the Skills Boost Worcestershire programme is now back in full swing, offering local businesses the chance to upskill their workforce at a reduced cost. Employers can claim back 50% of training costs up to 6,000 pounds per business. Unfortunately, due to high demand, we are no longer able to accept Worcester city based residents onto the programme. But the good news is that there is still funding available in the other areas of the county. Please visit the link in the newsletter to find out more about eligibility and to apply.
This next update is about flagging an opportunity for you as businesses to have your say on the future of public sector procurement. The Cabinet Office has just launched a ten week public consultation on further reforms to public procurement. These reforms aim to strengthen British industry to create jobs and enhance skills. Building on the government’s National Industrial Strategy, which was published at the end of June. The consultation period ends on Friday the 5th of September, so we’d encourage Worcestershire businesses to get involved and share your views. Sticking at the national level, the UK Export Academy is launching a series of online events. These are going to run from the 24th of July to the 26th of August, and are designed to support aspiring entrepreneurs in turning their business ideas into reality. These sessions will cover the essential steps for starting a successful business, from shaping your initial idea to identifying and attracting your ideal customers. Attendees will also have the chance to gain first hand insight and inspiration from other entrepreneurs who have successfully established their own businesses.
