Hello, and welcome to the May edition of the Worcestershire Growth Hub newsletter. Like us, I hope you’ve been able to take advantage of the improved weather we’ve been seeing recently and are getting ready for the summer ahead. In terms of business support updates, the Growth Hub team have been busy engaging with partners locally, regionally and nationally to identify and leverage more business support programmes and funding into Worcestershire to benefit our businesses.
Starting at the local level, the first programme I’d like to highlight for you is that working in partnership with Worcestershire County Council, we are delivering two more events in the Business Worcestershire series, taking place in June and July, will be events covering the net zero and sustainability agenda for businesses, followed by sales and marketing respectively. These are areas that Worcestershire businesses have flagged to us as important to you, when asked earlier in the year, at the LEP’s Big Conversation event in February, and so both of these aim to address that ask. Both of these events are great opportunities for your business to come along and learn more about the topic from expert speakers. Next up is another exciting development aimed at supporting innovation within Worcestershire. This could be a solo entrepreneur, a budding enterprise or an entrepreneur within an existing business. BetaDen Incubate. Delivered in partnership with Barclays Eagle Labs and The Kiln co-working space in Worcester City Centre, is a new free program of support to help new early stage businesses to bring their technology, product or service to market. Building on the award winning success of the BetaDen Technology Accelerator program in Malvern, the new BetaDen Incubate programme expands BetaDen’s portfolio support offer to provide a more easily accessible and shorter scheme delivered over two months, aiming to help a larger number of businesses in the county. There are four intakes planned during the next ten months. Now before signing off, I’d like to pose a question. Earlier on, I mentioned two Business Worcestershire events being delivered in partnership with the County council, which respond to requests from businesses.
This year, the Growth Hub plan to deliver a series of engaging business support workshops across the county to help businesses with the things that matter to them. Topic suggestions so far include exporting, strategic marketing and investor readiness. We want to hear from you about the key challenges you’re dealing with, so that it can help to inform our programme and ensure that we’re delivering advice and solutions which are most useful to you and your businesses.
