Hello, and welcome to the September edition of the Worcestershire Growth Hub newsletter. As the schools and colleges reopen their doors this month and the warmer weather begins to fade away. It certainly feels like the summer has finished. But don’t look back in anger as we head into the autumn period. I hope you’ve been able to enjoy a restful summer break, maybe half the world away, but are now back and ready to roll with it and get the latest updates from the Worcestershire Growth Hub team, who continue to be here now, and provide you with the business support you need.
Next up, I’d like to highlight a funding investment workshop which is being delivered by our partners at Funding Hero. Funding Hero are a Midlands based high growth investment readiness provider, and will also be providing a 100 free one month licenses to its investment readiness platform too. This is a great opportunity for businesses who are looking to expand and scale up and are interested in how to secure external funding.
The workshop which is being hosted at the Malvern Hills Science Park on the 7th of October, is being sponsored by Worcestershire County Council, the British Business Bank and Eagle Labs. And it will focus on four key areas about fundraise planning, financial strategy, fundraise budget and a fundraise timeline.
Switching now to the theme of innovation, I’d like to highlight the Women Entrepreneurs pitch competition. This competition aims to promote high potential female led businesses in the region, and create a platform for women entrepreneurs to build their investor networks. The deadline to apply for the competition is the 30th of September, and you can find out more about this in the newsletter. We will be increasing our focus on innovation as the weeks and months continue, so stay tuned for more updates about this and the support that’s available to those businesses who are looking to innovate.
Now, before wrapping up this month, I’d just like to highlight some national business support resources available to you too. The UK government, Export Academy has developed a series of webinars which are focused on helping businesses to unlock global opportunities. These webinars feature sessions on how to enter various markets across the globe, as well as providing tips on how to export and navigating issues such as VAT when selling to Europe, currency exchange variations, and the best way to get paid for your exports. Find out more about these sessions, and the associated resources within the newsletter.
Now to conclude this month’s update, I’d like to remind you that there are a huge range of events that are starting within the next few weeks, and the Worcestershire Growth Hub has developed, an events calendar to help businesses navigate the busy events season. The calendar includes events that are planned all across the county and are hosted by a wide selection of partners.
