New £2 Million ADOPT Grant Open to Boost On-Farm Innovation in England

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), in partnership with Innovate UK, is investing £2 million in Full ADOPT Grant Round 2 to help improve productivity, resilience, and sustainability across the agricultural sector.

This funding supports on-farm trials or demonstration projects that test new ideas or technologies addressing immediate farming challenges. Projects should showcase real-world impact, offering clear benefits to other English farmers, growers, or foresters — particularly in moving toward net zero farming.

Projects must be based in England, with eligible total costs between £50,000 and £100,000. Applications are open to farmers, growers, and forestry businesses who want to explore innovation and share learnings with the wider industry.

Applicants new to Innovate UK’s processes are encouraged to explore the ADOPT Facilitator Support Grant, which helps fund project scoping and application writing. A dedicated Support Hub is also available for further assistance.
